What we make

Horror Props & Prop Bodies

Scare Designz builds the bodies and gore that make a haunted house believable. For Bellewaerde we produced more than 60 bodies, severed limbs and heads for two houses, from a mortuary hallway packed with body bags to the victims of a Mexican serial killer. For Movie Park Germany we built every prop body in Jason Universe, each figure modelled on an actor from the Friday the 13th films, 3D printed and then sculpted, painted and finished by hand.

Every piece is made for daily use in a park, not just for the photo. Props are built around sturdy cores, finished with realistic skin tones, hair and blood, and can include effects such as water spray. When a character needs to look like a real person, we take a life cast or work from 3D scans and photo references.

  • Full-size prop bodies

Hanging, lying, pinned or packed in body bags, in every stage of decay.

  • Severed heads & life casts

Heads cast from your own actors or characters, adjusted to fit the story.

  • Body parts & gore

Limbs, hands, organs and gore props that hold up to close inspection.

  • Actor-matronics

Large figures on rails or mechanisms, cued with light and sound.

  • Built-in effects

Water spray, spitting mechanisms and interactive parts built into the prop.

  • Training & SFX wounds

Durable wounds and injuries for training, film and photo shoots.

Water spray

Every prop body for Jason Universe, the new maze at Movie Park Germany. Each figure is modelled on an actor from the Friday the 13th films: 3D printed, then sculpted, painted and finished by hand in our workshop. The bodies were built with room for a water-spray effect, so the scares hit guests for real.

Questions

Good to know.

Can you make a prop body that looks like a specific person or character?

Yes. For Huyze Pelle we took a life cast of the lead actor, and for Jason Universe every figure was modelled on an actor from the Friday the 13th films, then 3D printed and finished by hand.

Are the props strong enough for daily use in a park?

Yes. Our props are built for long seasons with guests walking past every few seconds. Our first aid training wounds, for example, were made to survive years of student handling.

Can you build effects into a prop?

Yes. We have built props with water-spray and spitting effects, and a 160 cm actor-matronic that an actor pushes towards guests on a rail, cued with light and sound.
